Apple iOS 8 Beta 5 Availabe to Download.

Apple is putting the final touches on iOS 8 ahead of its fall release, and while previous betas conveyed some surprising new features, the release of iOS 8 beta 5 is mostly full of tiny pulls, bug fixes and a few small new additions.

iOS 8 beta 5 is accessible beginning immediately for developers with compatible iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices. It can be installed as an over the air (OTA) update or it can be downloaded from Apple’s developer gateway and installed using iTunes.

According to sources, Apple has another beta prearranged for developers, with iOS 8 beta 6 due to be released on August 15th.

For non-developers who have not listened, iOS 8 beta 5 will address some issues but plenty more will remain. Those who would fancy to go back to a stable iOS build and wait for the public iOS 8 release can roll back to the latest version of iOS 7.1 until the ultimate version of iOS 8 is released in the future of Apple’s iPhone 6 launch.

Simple Tricks to Improve your iPhone's Battery Life.

Want to improve your iPhone's battery life? Sick of running out of juice around 8pm? Follow these tricks for all-day iPhone battery life

What is the most essential technology to any smart phone? It’s not the screen quality or size. It’s not the storage space or looks. It’s the battery backup. Because without a good battery backup it doesn’t matter how advanced your phone is, because if won’t work for too long. That’s the reason why iPhone is the most awesome device in the world for the first half of the day, and a great trouble for the latter. But I’ve started using a number of tricks to make my battery life last longer.

These tricks will not only enhance you battery life, but also improve the general performance of your much-loved iPhone. Most of the tricks listed below are simple to put into practice and should.

Here are few Simple Tricks to Improve your iPhone's Battery Life.

Those Motion Effects. Stop them.

The parallax effect is the name given to the faintly moving icons and notifications in iOS 7 when you move your iPhone. Apple fashioned the parallax effect to give the flat icons some depth. On the other hand, as with any process that requires movement, the graphic capabilities needed to do this suck up battery life. In order to disable this effect go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion > and toggle the switch to ON (green).

Disable the Dynamic Backgrounds.

An additional motion feature in iOS 7 is the dynamic backgrounds. These are the wallpapers that have slight motion in them. They look great, but that motion is sucking into your valuable battery life. It’s most excellent to use a still image for your wallpaper. To do away with of the dynamic images go to Settings > Wallpapers & Brightness > Choose a New Wallpaper and select a wallpaper from the “Stills” selection.

Turn on the Auto-Brightness.

Increased screen brightness takes up a great amount of battery life. This is because the added light required to light up your screen requires a lot of energy, exhausting your battery faster. Screens commonly require less light in darkness and more when it’s bright outside. To adjust your iPhone’s brightness levels automatically go to Settings > Wallpapers & Brightness > and toggle the Auto-Brightness switch to ON (green).

Or Reduce the Screen Brightness Manually.

If Auto-Brightness isn’t doing great for you, you can always set the brightness levels on your own. Go to Settings > Wallpapers & Brightness > and decrease the brightness level by adjusting the slider. This will help you in a big way to save your battery backup up to a great extent.

Turn Off the Bluetooth.

The most recent iPhones have Bluetooth 4.0, also known as Bluetooth Low Energy, or BLE. And while BLE uses a lot less power than previous versions of Bluetooth it still takes up power unnecessarily when you leave it on and don’t plan on connecting to any Bluetooth devices. To quickly switch Bluetooth off simply bring up the Control Center. Click the Bluetooth button so it turns black. This disables Bluetooth.

Turn Off Wi-Fi.

Wi-Fi is another connection tools we usually don’t need when out. It’s more essential when we are in our home or office, as using Wi-Fi doesn’t drain into our data plans. But keeping it enabled all the time means our phones are frequently looking to join Wi-Fi networks as we roam across the city or take a trip on the train. The result is low battery backup. To quickly switch Wi-Fi off simply bring up the Control Center. Click the Wi-Fi button so it turns black. This disables Wi-Fi.

Stop Background App Refresh.

Background App Refresh is a feature in iOS 7 that enable apps to learn when you regularly check them. This allows the apps to calculate when you'll next check them and sees them craving their servers right before you do so they can pull the latest data and have it ready and waiting for you when you open the app. It’s a really versatile feature with the exception that it leads to draining your battery since these apps are running in the background.

To disable Background App Refresh go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh >  and toggle the switch to OFF (white) or toggle individual apps ON or OFF.

Switch Off App Location Services.

Location Services allows apps to know where you using GPS coordinate or Wi-Fi triangulation. This is helpful for a number of apps, but it sucks all the battery power.

To save battery go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > and toggle the switch to OFF (white) to turn off all Location Services (not recommended) or toggle individual apps access ON or OFF.

Turn Off System Location Services.

Just because you’ve tweaked every app access to Location Services doesn’t mean you can’t get some further battery savings from disabling the feature in other places. The core of iOS uses Location Services for many other purposes and some of them are absolutely meaningless. You don’t need them! So turn them off.

Settings > Privacy > Location Services > and scroll down until you see System Services. Tap that and toggle the switches to OFF (white) to disable individual system Location Services. I suggest disabling Diagnostics & Usage and Location-Based iAds.

Turn Siri Off.

Siri is always functioning in the background as a default on iOS 7. She’s just sat there waiting for you to speak to her meaning she’s always using up a little amount of battery in the background. It’s not helpful, particularly if you don’t use her, plus it isn’t hard to just turn her on by yourself.

You need to head into Settings > General > Siri and then turn off the Raise To Speak feature. Now you can’t call her to get into Siri but you can still do it with the home button.

There is an option to switch your iPhone battery to display as a percentage in its place. It’ll facilitate you keep a proper eye on the battery you’ve got left on your phone and know when to act with the tips above.

The smartphone case business is beginning to move away from cheap quality producers into the territory of ‘useful accessory’.

FLIR system has done just that and invented An Infrared iPhone Case That Lets You See behind Walls.

FLIR Systems, Inc. announced two new products at CES designed to plant thermal imaging into the hands of customers. The first is a new, consumer-level infrared thermal camera sensor, while the second is one is a Apple iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s case with both an infrared camera and a VGA one that’s believed to add depth and detail to the infrared images.

Thermal cameras have a wide range of uses, including by law enforcement to look for criminals at night or when hiding in brush, as a night vision system by the military, and by environmental inspectors looking for heat leaks from faulty insulation, finding lost pets in the dark, looking for energy leaking from your house, or to watch for wildlife.

The device works by merging the heat signature information it gets from the infrared camera with the live camera image from the iPhone. This afterwards delivers a merged thermal heat image. The product is a negative-type image of with a variety of heat levels in an collection of different colours – bright red and white denoting the hottest.

In every iOS release, Apple puts in a lot of exertion to not just add typical features like Continuity, Extensions, but to also improve iOS’ already remarkable set of accessibility tools. In this post, we roll out all new Accessibility features Apple added in iOS 8

All the new features Apple added in iOS 8.

Here are All the new features Apple added in iOS 8.

1. Natural Sounding VoiceOver.

Existing versions of iOS have a robotic-sounding VoiceOver that doesn’t feel as natural as OS X’s speech synthesis system. Apple is bringing Alex, its natural-sounding voice on the Mac to iOS. Alex will work with all of iOS’s spoken audio technologies except Siri which includes VoiceOver, Speak Selection. In real meaning, Alex is a substitute for the robotic-sounding voice that controls VoiceOver.

2. Speak Screen.

Speak Screen is a new feature in iOS 8, that speaks out the contents of the screen including text, buttons, labels etc. This feature will be a blessing to visually impaired users who may have issues reading text on their iPhone and/or iPad and can be triggered by a simple gesture. iOS 7 already has a similar feature called Speak Selection and It should be noted that Speak Screen is basically different from Speak Selection. Speak Selection  works only with text that is selected at the time.

3. Enhancement to Zoom.

iOS has had zoom since moderately a few versions, that lets you zoom into the screen and then move around with the help of gestures. The feature is now more refined, users now have the ability to specify which part of the screen is zoomed in, as well as adjust the level of the zoom, and the keyboard appears in its normal size even when zoom is active.

4. Addition of Grayscale.

In addition to a pseudo-theme Invert Color. Apple in iOS 8 is adding a second pseudo-theme to the system with Grayscale that provides the entire user interface in gray scale rather than color.

5. Guided Access Improvements.

Guided Access is an accessibility feature that lets you limit your iOS device to a single app with a passcode, and disable unnecessary gestures, and hardware buttons. With iOS 8, Guided Access lets you use Touch ID for verification when quitting an app. Apple also had a feature that lets users configure a time limit for Guided Access, after which all parts of iOS are reachable without the need for any passcode.

Guided Access plays an significant role in businesses, offices and schools where iPads are set up and used to run just a single application. Guided Access’s new features are basically game-changing, crucial tools for educators.

6.Braille Keyboard.

Apple has added support for a 6 dot Braille keyboard throughout the system. This feature involves a devoted Braille keyboard that will decode 6-dot chords into text.

7. Hearing Aids “Made for iPhone”.

Apple has several partners that manufacture Made for iPhone hearing aids that connect to the iPhone via Bluetooth, and provide a lot of accessibility features. Apple in iOS 8 has enhanced its Made for iPhone Hearing Aids software so that now users who use hearing aids and have multiple devices now can easily switch between them.  The user can also select which device they’d like to connect to, if there are more than two devices paired.

8. Third Party Keyboards.

Apple has the same keyboard that shipped with the original iPhone in 2007. The problem is that the key caps are too small and the glyphs too hard to read.Apple’s Extensibility framework lets third-party developers build their own custom, system-wide keyboards. This opens up the possibility of improving the default keyboard’s key size, spacing and organisation. Basically with the new API, though, third party developers can create completely customized keyboards that users can use instead of the stock one.

Conclusion.

Apple’s dedicated loyalty for improving Accessibility year after year deserves the supreme praise, and 2014 is no different. Apple already had one of the best set of accessibility features in the smartphone and tablet business, and with iOS 8, it further improves upon these features to make iPhones and iPads even more functional for everyone.

Boost your Phone's Volume with a Simple Trick.

There are a huge number of D.I.Y object on the internet, some better than the others. I read several such articles every day, exclusively for the sake of increasing my knowledge reservoir of difficult to understand solutions. Every now and then, one or the other seems so simple and easy that it makes me believe that I am the biggest idiot for not thinking of that.

Here I am going to reveal a couple of such tricks.

How to Boost your Phone's Volume with a Simple Trick.

If you crave to boost the volume of the music or audio from your Mobile device, then here’s an awesome do-it-yourself key created by @nnnnnnnn a Twiiter user.

All you need is two plastic cups and a paper towel roll.

Image posted by the Twitter user mentioned above.

I gave it a shot, and found that it really works. IT REALLY WORKS.

In my case [for Sony Xperia P] i had to keep the cellphone upside down as its speakers are at the right top side. It doesn’t really sound better, but it did make it louder, but i notice that you can make it sound better by merely adjusting the music equalizer.

This is a very useful as well as helpful way out if you don’t want to buy a speaker for your device.
And you can always give it a cool exterior design (provided that you are talented enough).

The next trick is very simple and you have probably tried it. Equipped with nothing but a simple glass, you can double the sound coming out of your smartphone. But does it sound better? Obviously No, Duh! It‘s not like it’s a substitute for the cheapest of speakers in the market. But if you ever find yourself situation where you will need a loud sound for instance needing to blow up a conference call just a little then this simple yet powerful trick may prove handy.

According to the tech giant which is famous for its world class smartphone that is the iPhone, Apple Saves the World Every Day.

Apple has posted its most recent iPhone 5s ad campaign, called “Dreams,” to its YouTube channel. The latest ad shows how the products are engaged around the world to do a variety of tasks away from the essentials like email and web browsing. The ad shows several iPhone owners using their devices in a mixture of professional as well as personal quest ranging from  medicine, to art, to fighting fires.

The ad with the tag line as “You’re more powerful than you think” is set to Jennifer O’Connor’s new single “When I Grow Up,” which was released on iTunes earlier this week and is available for download on iTunes now.

Here’s how Apple is Saving the World day after day.

For a full list of the apps used in the ad check out, 9to5Mac’s summary.

How Apple is Saving the World day after day.

HP is partnering with Fashion designer Michael Bastian and with a retailer called Gilt to put together an Android- and iOS-compatible smartwatch. The Smartwatch which will be designed by Michael Bastian is described as "Michael Bastian Smartwatch engineered by Hewlett-Packard," by Gilt.

The luxurious work of art will feature a circular, 44mm stainless steel case with a reasonably aggressive sporty design and swappable straps that are black rubber, brown leather, olive green nylon and a limited edition black. It’s hard not to notice that its shape possess a little similarity to the Moto 360 Smartwatch.

Have a look at HP's Magnificent New Smartwatch in the Image below.

HP's Luxury Smartwatch Looks Surprisingly Nice.

The software will be provided by HP, which may point that the Smartwatch won’t be a single OS believer. HP will also add the watch's smart features, which will take account of notifications like email, text and calls, along with sports update and other apps. It'll also put forward music controls and display weather forecasts.

Keeping in mind that how basic its function set is, it's doubtful that Gilt will be positioning this as anything other than a high-tech fashion accessory. We believe that the watch will maintain both Android and iOS, and will be controlled by means of an app. The company's move seems analogous to Pebble's, with most of the customization done through an app in its place of the device itself.

HP, Gilt and Michael Bastian team up on new Smartwatch

In accordance with Fashionista, The prompting by HP of the doubtful partnership gave an idea to bring in a fashion designer. From there, Gilt brought Bastian on board, who took care of the design while HP worked on the tech inside. But there are no other details like the type of display, memory or pricing of the product but I believe that it will cost you a good amount.

The Smartwatch is reportedly arriving this fall, Will HP succeed in building the hardware, software, and applications for a product? We'll find out this fall. Stay Connected.

It’s been a while since Canonical has been developing Ubuntu for Devices. Regrettably, it’s not so simple to install it. Yet, if you've want to make an effort for it then dual-booting your Nexus Device.

Lately, Canonical announced an update to its Ubuntu Dual Boot app with the help of which you can dual boot Ubuntu and Android. This means that not only can you check out Ubuntu without experimenting on your phone, but you can see all the new updates as they take place without much mess.
Warning:  As of now Ubuntu for Devices is still under developed condition, and it is almost certainly not a complete package to full in your daily needs. This is the reason why we are about to Dual Boot Ubuntu on Your Android Device. Obviously, you should be expecting some bugs in the OS.

First, apps in Ubuntu uses HTML5, but a number of apps on the platform are in fact just the regular mobile sites. Some apps may ask you to install an Android app when you start them. Do not install them as Ubuntu is not built on Android and Android apps won't work on it. Challenging this and trying to install them or even opening a link to the app can make a mess.

Second, you will need a laptop or PC running Ubuntu because this procedure requires the desktop version of Ubuntu to install the mobile OS on your Android device.  Here are directions for installing Ubuntu together with Windows: How to install Ubuntu using a USB flash drive.

How to Dual Boot Ubuntu on Android:

Enable USB Debugging.

First, you must enable USB debugging on your phone or tablet.
Here's how to do so:

  • Open the Settings and select "About phone."(Or About Tablet)
  • Click "Build number"  7 times to enable developer mode.
  • Go back to the Settings menu.
  • Tap the just this minute available Developer options.
  • Check USB debugging to enable it.
  • Once that's done, connect your tablet/phone to your computer with a micro USB cable.

Installing the Ubuntu Dual Boot App.

Next, download the Ubuntu Dual Boot installer script from here to your home directory. Then follow these instructions:

  • Open a Terminal window by pressing Ctrl+Alt+T all together.
  • Run the following command to make the script executable:     chmod +x dualboot.sh
  • Execute the script by running the following command:     ./dualboot.sh

Note: In my experiment with a Nexus 7 on a fresh Ubuntu install, the script got trapped in a loop attempting to execute a curl command (as shown below). If this occurs to you, close the Terminal window, open a new one, and run the this command to install the package: sudo apt-get install curl This will install the essential component. Once that's complete, run the dual boot installation script again.

Downloading and Installing Ubuntu for Devices.

The script will run involuntarily and will reset your device a number of times. Once this is complete, your phone or tablet should boot back up to the Android home screen. Now, open the new Ubuntu Dual Boot app from your app drawer and then:

  • Click "Choose channel to install."
  • Choose a download channel (Canonical recommends "utopic").
  • Click "Grant" when prompt for super user access.
  • Once Ubuntu has completed downloading and installing, click Reboot to Ubuntu.
  • Well Done! You now have Ubuntu running on your phone or tablet.
  • How to Switch Between Android and Ubuntu

Nothing like many other dual boot solutions, you don't select which operating system you want at begin. As an alternative, once you've booted into Android, start the Ubuntu Dual Boot app and click "Reboot to Ubuntu". Your device will then restart into Ubuntu. Regardless of which OS you're in, a hard reset will always boot to Android. This is generally performed by holding down the power button for about ten seconds. There's also a Dual Boot app in Ubuntu for switching back to Android if you wish.

You can also update Ubuntu from either the Ubuntu Dual Boot app in Android or from the system settings in Ubuntu. Nevertheless, both methods require you to be in Android to actually install the update, so it's almost certainly best to just boot into Android first when it's time to update anyhow.

"iPhone 6" Concept by Ciccarese Design.

In addition to the rumours and assumptions related to Apple's greatly expected "iPhone 6" unveiling, a doubtful report on earlier today claims that Apple to launch iPhone 6 on October 14.

MacRumors, in a report quoting an internal Apple Retail Store meeting, suggests that the Cupertino-based giant might be planning to launch the much anticipated iPhone 6 on October 14, which happens to be a Tuesday - a day when Apple habitually makes its declarations, followed by the release generally the same Friday.

Also Read: Alternative to iOS and Android: Ubuntu for Android.

Though the new iPhone 6 may first appear in October assuming this information is on the money, Apple in point of fact would introduce the phone at an occasion planned for September 16, according to the source.

For the past many years, Apple has usually unveiled the new iPhone in September and then launched it before the month ends. That line of attack has allowed the company to apply sales of a new iPhone to the September quarter to help increase economic results before the quarter comes to an end. Launching the iPhone 6 in October would put a depression in Apple's economic fourth-quarter results.

Apple is likely to launch two redesigned iPhone 6 models that are a 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 with many look forward for a slimmed-down profile, superior components like an "A8" processor and perhaps more committed storage. A believed iPhone 6 logic board leak last week suggested the insertion of 802.11ac Wi-Fi and NFC support, though the rumour is unconfirmed.

According to MacRumors' source, Apple wants to push release up earlier in the week because of high customer demand and heavy supply of the product as a result of greater than before production.

Recently, a report suggested that because of production issues the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 launch might be pushed to December. Besides, the report also said Apple would introduce its long-rumoured smartwatch  (rumoured to be called iTime), together with the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 (also rumoured to be called the iPhone Air), in December.

While it is not clear why Apple changed its tradition and is waiting for October to lash out its brand new smart phone. In addition to a larger screen, both versions of the iPhone 6 are likely to feature a thinner side view, a faster A8 processor, and an enhanced camera.
